It seems like they thought it would be cool to have the twist, but didn't exactly develop it well, in true Bioware fashion. This wouldn't normally be an issue, but when everyone and their brother starts comparing KOTOR to works of literature and such nonsense, somebody has to shoot that silliness down.

The combat, at least to a veteran player like myself, isn't terrible. It isn't the best system in the world, but I like it due to how all the systems interact. KOTOR 2's skills and combat system is a little bit more involved (and better), but I wouldn't buy that on anything PC. I would buy KOTOR 1 on anything PC.
